| Over the last two years
I’ve covered a few thousand kilometres on driving trips through the
Pilbara and East Kimberly, been glued to window seats in aircraft on
clear days, lived in aboriginal communities, spent many Saturdays
and Sundays with my family on either side of Fremantle Harbour and
generally explored the surrounds of Perth.
In Fremantle and
Cockburn, 5 minutes either way from where I live, I’ve found the
spectacle and grandeur of an awesome landscape exists but I have to
get to the port or the river or the abandoned buildings and
industrial sites to really find it.
The Northwest trips however lay the inspiration out at every
turn, It’s eye candy from an artists point of view, the scale and
the beauty is so overwhelming that it makes a permanent imprint on
your mind, and so the Northern landscape experience has become a
dominant influence in this exhibition.
